Overview

AIFSDT is a selective, part-time, live online program designed to launch ambitious software engineers into high-impact AI leadership roles. The program nurtures the technical leadership and strategic acumen needed to shape AI system architecture, make high-stakes technical decisions, govern engineering execution, and connect technology investments to business outcomes.

Over eight weeks, participants build practical capability in AI-native system design, human + AI workflow management, AI-enabled testing, deployment readiness, monitoring, upgrades, and business-aligned engineering decisions. The program is project-oriented, combining live teaching, independent work, 1:1 tutoring, peer learning, guest sessions, up to five industry projects, and a final capstone.

AIFSDT is academically directed by Dr. Yabebal Fantaye, award-winning cosmologist and data scientist, and builds on 10 Academy's experience in employment-focused technology training since 2017. 10 Academy is supported by leaders and organizations including Eric Schmidt, Jeff Dean, GitLab Foundation, Schmidt Futures, Hopper-Dean Foundation, Mastercard Foundation, Wellcome Trust, Amazon, Replit, Intel, and others. Alumni have gone on to work at Meta, Apple, Walmart, Disney, and other high-growth companies.

The part-time format is designed to be completed alongside full-time work and aligns to US/Canadian timezones. It is meant for high-performing engineers who are on a leadership progress track.

Why AIFSDT

AI is reshaping employers' expectations of software engineers and redefining the skills the role requires. As teams adopt AI across design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance, using AI solely as a coding shortcut is limiting. High value engineers should be able to define the right objectives, architect AI-enabled systems, guide agentic workflows, evaluate AI-generated outputs, and connect technical decisions to real-world outcomes. This program gives ambitious engineers the roadmap to build those capabilities through practice, positioning them for technical and business leadership.

Learning Areas

1. AI-Driven Development Architecture

Build the skills to lead complex AI system architecture, make high-stakes technical decisions, govern engineering execution, and translate technology investments into direct business growth.

1.1 AI-Native System Design and Architecture

Learn to design AI-enabled full-stack architectures, define system boundaries, select models and orchestration frameworks, and structure data, API, and context flows. Implement retrieval strategies and make architecture decisions that support scalability, reliability, and maintainability.

1.2 Human + AI Workflow Management

Learn to structure workflows where engineers and AI agents collaborate effectively, including task decomposition, review processes, handoffs, and quality control.

1.3 AI-Enabled Testing and Evaluation

Learn to use AI to build, strengthen, and run full QA suites (including test generation, regression checks, validation workflows, and reliability gates) while maintaining a high standard for correctness, reliability, and maintainability.

1.4 Deployment, Monitoring, and Upgrades

Learn to deploy AI-enabled systems for production use, automate workflows, monitor behavior under stress, handle edge cases, and manage model, tool, and workflow changes over time.

2. Product Strategy & Business Ownership

Build the technical leadership and strategic acumen needed to own end-to-end AI roadmaps, make sound engineering decisions, optimize technical operations, and connect engineering execution to business value.

Eligibility

This program is for engineers who are proficient AI users in their work and who understand that keeping abreast of all of the developments across the AI spectrum is a) difficult alone and b) important as one grows into further leadership roles.

There is no minimum work experience, but others in the room will have been developing leading-edge software for 3–5 years.

Program Dates and Schedule

  • Program dates: October 19 to December 11, 2026
  • Last day to register: October 16, 2026
  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Format: Fully online, live-taught, part-time
  • Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 18:30–21:00 US Eastern Time (2.5 hours), and Saturday, 10:00–14:00 US Eastern Time (optional); 8–12 hours per week

Weekly Schedule

In a typical week, participants can expect two live stand-up sessions. These sessions are used to assign projects, share progress updates, address bottlenecks, and communicate key announcements. As AIFSDT is delivered in a small cohort format, the timing of these stand-ups can be agreed jointly by participants and instructors.

Other scheduled sessions support structured independent work periods, during which tutors are available to provide guidance, unblock participants, and support peer-to-peer learning. Guest lecture sessions also take place during the scheduled sessions.

Ongoing support is available throughout the training period to help participants maintain momentum during independent focused work.

Fees and Registration

  • Standard tuition: $2,200 USD
  • Reservation fee: $200 to secure your place and access Week 1
  • Pay in full: Pay $1,800 in Week 2, bringing your total cost to $2,000 and saving you $200!
  • Installment plan: Pay $1,000 in Week 2 + $1,000 at the start of Week 6, for a total cost of $2,200
  • Refund: The $200 reservation fee is fully refundable if you cancel before 21:00 US Eastern Time on October 23, 2026

AI Usage Costs

In addition to the program fee, trainees are expected to cover the cost of AI tool usage during the training (API tokens and tool subscriptions), ranging from $100 to $385 for the 8 weeks.

Delivery and Capstone

  • Academic direction: The academic design and delivery of the program is directed by Dr. Yabebal Fantaye, award-winning cosmologist and data scientist.
  • Project format: Participants work through realistic engineering challenges and produce practical outputs each week.
  • Industry projects and capstone: Participants complete up to five industry projects that build toward a final capstone, with feedback from expert tutors and industry practitioners.
  • Final portfolio output: Participants build a portfolio of AI-native projects and capstone.
  • Live teaching + independent work: The program combines live teaching from expert faculty and tutors with structured independent work.
  • Guest lectures from industry practitioners: Guest lecture sessions from industry practitioners across healthcare, advertising, fintech, and telecommunications.
  • Job market alignment: Skills are mapped to current employer demand and job-market gaps, and continuously updated to reflect emerging AI-native development practices, tools, frameworks, and industry expectations.
  • Tutoring, mentorship, and peer learning: Participants have access to 1:1 tutoring, peer group work, Slack/community support and mentorship throughout the program.
  • Small, selective cohort: The cohort is limited to 10–12 participants to ensure close instruction, practical feedback, and strong peer-to-peer learning.
